Beverly Hills Class Action
Attorney Jeffrey Spencer is prosecuting a class action lawsuit against the City of Beverly Hills for racial profiling and selective enforcement against African Americans, along with attorneys Ben Crump and Bradley Gage.
The complaint alleges the City of Beverly Hills adopted uniform policies and customs that led to selective enforcement targeting Black Americans, violating the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The result: some of the most extreme disparities in arrests of African Americans in California.
-
During the main Class Period, 34% of arrests by the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) were African American.
-
During the RTD Subclass Period, 92% of arrests were African American.
-
Yet, African Americans make up less than 2% of the Beverly Hills population.
There is no explanation for this gross statistical disparity other than racial profiling and selective enforcement.
